2nd go-kart park plan hits a home run with Myrtle Beach officials

A plan for a go-kart/arcade amusement park at the south end of Restaurant Row went from a review of beyond tacky in its November appearance before the Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board to “understated nostalgia” in its redo Thursday, said Larry Bragg, the board’s chairman.

The plan, which did not address specifics of signage and lighting, received the board’s unanimous approval, meaning The Track of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., can begin work at the site of the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club.

Signage and lighting will be scrutinized in future CAB meetings, but board members said they believe the landscape plan that was approved Thursday will go a long way toward addressing light pollution concerns of some Grande Dunes residents.
