$30 million invested in marketing; business owners don't see effects in Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has invested a lot into new marketing opportunities, but some business owners say they have not seen the effects.

Wednesday, the chamber announced visitmyrtlebeach.com will sponsor a NASCAR nationwide series race at the Kentucky speedway this September.

This June, the 2014 PGA Professional National Championship will be held in Myrtle Beach and broadcast nationally on the Golf Channel.

As well, last April, ESPN's Mike and Mike broadcast live from the Hootie and the Blowfish "Monday after the Masters Celebrity Pro-AM"

Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce President, Brad Dean, says using national events helps market the area to people who have never visited.
