Carolina Forest girls basketball ends skid with tight win over Socastee

Carolina Forest simply needed something positive to happen before the second half of region play.

The Panthers hadn’t won a game since Dec. 16 and were in sole possession of last place in Region VI-AAAA heading into Tuesday. Neither of those things are true any longer after Carolina Forest picked up a 48-46 home victory over Socastee.

Guard Cheyenne Pyles recorded nine of her 14 points during a high-scoring fourth quarter and the Panthers held off a push from the Braves in the final two minutes.

“It feels like it’s been a while,” Carolina Forest coach Stacey Hughes said. “We needed that. That was huge for us.”
