Discussion on laws pertaining to animal rights and care planned for Saturday in Myrtle Beach

Area residents are invited to listen to a discussion Saturday about animal rights and protection laws with Sen. Luke Rankin during the Humane Lobby Day at the Grand Strand Humane Society in Myrtle Beach.

The discussion will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with animal advocates from Horry County, who signed up in advance to address their concerns about animal protection laws with Rankin.

According to the Grand Strand Humane Society, officials will discuss current bills proposed as well as drafting legislation regarding puppy mill issues, officials said in a release. Other discussions will address the use of gas chambers during euthanasia.
