Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine Announces Cooking for Kids

For years Barbara Whitley, proprietor and master baker of Crady’s Electic Cuisine in downtown Conway, has been teaching cooking classes.  From her famous pie dough to the mother sauce, many a cook has turned to Barbara to learn the basics and then some.

With more than 35 years of experience, a passion for baking, a love of people, and quite a bit of coaxing from her fans, Barbara is introducing a cooking class for the younger set.

On July 29, Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine will introduce Cooking for Kids, the first in what could be a series of hands-on classes. From 5:30 pm to approximately 7:00 pm aspiring young bakers will be donning aprons and learning first-hand how much fun baking can be.  Barbara has chosen her award-winning watermelon cookies as the first recipe she will share with this group. “I think they will enjoy making them almost as much as they will enjoy eating them,” she said.

Like the adult version of the program, a light meal will be served while the goodies are in the oven.

While adults will be welcome, the focus will be on the children. “Cooking is fundamental,” said Barbara. Everyone should know a little something about cooking. Unfortunately, children often grow up with the idea they don’t like to bake simply because they have never done it. It’s actually quite fun and for me it’s relaxing. For years, people have asked me to introduce a class for children. I guess this is the year!” she said with a smile.

Barbara’s class will be geared for ages 9+, but she will consider younger children if they have an interest and of course, with parental consent.
