Ellis reaches milestone in Coastal Carolina’s win over UNC Asheville

Coastal Carolina men’s basketball coach Cliff Ellis now has a feat all to his own, a product of a career spanning more than 40 years and a nugget of college basketball history that nobody else can claim.

With the Chanticleers’ 68-56 win over UNC Asheville on Tuesday night at The HTC Center, Ellis became the first coach in NCAA history to win at least 150 games at four different programs.

Ellis, who was already one of just two coaches along with Lefty Driesell to reach 100 wins at four Division I schools, won 171 games at South Alabama from 1975-84, 177 at Clemson from 1984-94 and 186 at Auburn from 1994-2004 before hitting the 150-win milestone again now in his eighth year at Coastal Carolina.
