An Evening of Arias with Sarah Reese at Coastal Carolina University

Acclaimed operatic soprano Sarah Reese will perform at Coastal Carolina University as part of its cultural arts program on Saturday, March 1, at 4 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

A native of Pelzer, S.C., and a graduate of Furman University, Reese made her New York debut in 1981 and has since performed with some of the most famous orchestras and conductors throughout the world.

Former principal artist with the New York Metropolitan Opera and Boston Opera, Reese performed and recorded “Barber’s Prayers of Kierkegaard” with the Chicago Symphony on the Koch International Classics label. In addition to performing various roles in Switzerland, England, France, Monte Carlo, Italy and Russia, Reese has traveled to Toulouse, Strasbourg, Dusseldorf and Cologne with the Festival Orchestra of Sofia, Bulgaria, as the soprano soloist in Verdi’s “Requiem” and Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony.”

Her most recent accomplishments include performing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in London in Tippett’s “A Child of Our Time” and with the American Composers Orchestra at New York’s Carnegie Hall in the American premiere of “The Leaden Echo, The Golden Echo.”

Reserved seating tickets are $15. Faculty and staff, as well as OLLI members, senior citizens and alumni receive a $5 discount, and children’s tickets are $5. All Students (regardless of institution or grade level) can attend the concert for free.
