Coccadotts to compete on Cupcake Wars again (Update: One more time)

Update 9/19/13: Perhaps the third time will be the charm for Coccadotts Cake Shop as they make another attempt at cupcake domination on the Food Network's show, Cupcake Wars.

As they have done in the past, they're holding a premiere party free and open to the public. It will be on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Lakewood Conference Center, located at 5901 S Kings Hwy in Myrtle Beach. The party begin at 7 p.m. and the kind folks at Coccadoots are offering up 3000 cupcakes for their guests.

First report 4/22/13: The cupcake is finally out of the piping bag. After promoting a "major event" scheduled for April 28th on their Facebook page it was revealed today via social media that the bakers at Coccadotts Cake Shop had a second shot at their Cupcake Wars dreams and the episode airs on Sunday at 8 p.m.

The show is on Food Network and features four sets of bakers pitted against each other to make the best cupcakes, based both on flavor and presentation, through a series of themed challenges. Coccadotts' first attempt at cupcake greatness ended in round one with a salt incident. To celebrate their second attempt, they're inviting the community to join them at the Clarion in Myrtle Beach to watch the episode and enjoy 3000 free cupcakes. They're simply asking to leave the salt jokes at home.

The Clarion is located at 101 Fantasy Harbour Boulevard on the Intracoastal Waterway next to The Boathouse off 501. The Myrtle Beach locaiton of Coccadotts is located off 544 at 106 Sayebrooke Parkway, near the new Target. For the latest from them, including specials, like them on Facebook.

What kind? Because I, too,

What kind? Because I, too, consider myself knowledgeable in cupcakes and I find that you can really tell a lot about a bakery based on how well they do the basics. Let's face it, a bubble gum flavored cupcake is just destined to taste like sugary crap. I once had a "Cherry Blossom" cupcake from Georgetown Cupcakes (a.k.a. DC Cupcakes) and it literally tasted like vomit. Their chocolate with coconut frosting, however, was to die for. My fave Coccadotts flavor is Blueberry Almond followed closely by Boston Creme.
