Robberies keep Horry County police investigators busy

Horry County and North Carolina authorities have been busy investigating four separate robberies in the last two days in the area, including a man being robbed while stopping to help what appeared to be a stranded motorist, police said.

Police ask for anyone with information about the robberies to contact them.

Officers were called about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday to Morgan Road in Loris where a 25-year-old man told police that he had been robbed when he stopped to render aid to another motorist he thought was having vehicle trouble, Denis said.

The victim told authorities when he stopped for the disabled motor vehicle, the man pulled a gun on him and demanded all his belongings, Denis said. The robber took $220 cash and the victim told police he may be able to identify the suspect because he had seen him around town.

Later when police questioned the victim again about the robbery, he said he had identified the man using Facebook. Officers continued to investigate the incident.
