Unemployment numbers drop for both Carolinas, Horry December unemployment higher
South Carolina unemployment has fallen below the national jobless rate for the first time in more than a decade. The Department of Employment and Workforce said Tuesday that the state's unemployed rate for December was 6.6. percent. That marked the state's fourth straight monthly decline.

Horry County was just one of three counties in South Carolina that saw its unemployment rate rise from November to December [...] Numbers released Tuesday morning by the state Department of Employment and Workforce showed that Horry posted a 7.8 percent jobless rate in December, up 0.1 point from November but down 3.2 points from December 2012.
