Fat Hen to host "Meet Your Local Farmers" reception

The Fat Hen restaurant will host a "Meet Your Local Farmers" reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.

The event will utilize the Hen's main dining hall, alcove and outdoor patio as settings for multiple food stations, comprised of seasonal ingredients sourced by participating local farmers in tandem with Firefly Distillery cocktails, including the newest addition to its repetoire: Firefly Moonshine.

Contributions will be made from the following local producers:

Guests will enjoy dishes such as: whole roasted pig, BBQ chicken sliders with bacon blue cheese coleslaw, and shrimp and grits. A community farmer’s table will also be available, offering smoked, pickled, roasted and grilled vegetables, fruits and cheeses. Ed "Porkchop" Meyer of Johns Island will also be in attendance, entertaining guests during the reception.

Fat Hen Owner and Head Chef Fred Neuville is excited to give back to his "neighboring" farming community:

“Most of these farmers are our neighbors so we’ve always wanted to treat them to a fun evening and with the summer season approaching, this seemed like a great time do it.”

The event is free for farmers. Public admission is $45 plus applicable taxes, and a portion of the entrance fee will be donated to the Lowcountry Dolphin Alliance. For more information about the event and purchasing tickets, call 843.559.9090.
