SC House looking for solutions to state's domestic violence problem
Domestic violence is getting a lot more attention lately because of the video of NFL player Ray Rice hitting his then-fiancée, but it's been a problem in South Carolina for decades, with the state ranked second-worst in the country for the rate of women killed by men. Wednesday, the state House Criminal Domestic Violence Reform Committee met to look for solutions.
"We are very willing and open to hearing everything we can hear about this very, very important issue, something that we're hearing on the news all over the place," said Rep. Shannon Erickson, R-Beaufort, chair of the committee, to open the meeting.
