Praise for new Port of Port Royal development agreement

Earlier this month, the Town of Port Royal and the State Ports Authority agreed to a new set of terms for the sale and eventual development of the 617-acre Port of Port Royal property.

In short, the new plan will allow for some interim improvements to the town in form of a promenade for the Sands Beach and the removal of an old dry stack, among other boons for the town and its residents.

Following the agreement, The Island Packet has penned an editorial praising that deal.

Now the parties just need a buyer, and look for the discussion to find a fourth would-be-buyer to heat back up after a new appraisal comes in, hopefully by the end of January.
